My Husband's Alcoholism Ended Up With Him in Hospital. Will He Be Okay?
by Sandy
Hello, well the other day my husband woke up drunk ... and he continued to drink the day and the next day ... and later I called the emergency services, who said he had alcoholism, and took him to the nearest hospital. AnswerHi Sandy I'm sure he will survive. Drinking to excess like that, especially a prolonged binge like your husband was on, can potentially be very dangerous. Alcohol poisoning, liver failure etc. can potentially be fatal, but now that he's in a supervised, medical environment - I'm sure they'll help him detox properly and sober up. It's a very good thing you phoned the emergency services because the alcohol withdrawal process can be very dangerous and even fatal if not done in a supervised environment. The thing is, you need to understand that alcoholism requires more than just a few days in a hospital detox facility to recover from it successfully. Your husband likely needs to go through an intensive alcoholism addiction treatment program to equip him with the tools he needs to beat his addiction. So I urge you to learn as much as you can about alcoholism so that you understand what your husband is suffering from and what he needs to do to turn his life around.
