Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Help Header

Book on Alcoholism Plus Some Further Suggested Reading

If you’re looking for a book on alcoholism or book on drug addiction – I’ve got good news and bad for you ...

The good news is that my addiction and alcoholism book – Addiction Uncovered – is available to you FREE. Yes, you heard me right – you can get your copy simply by providing your details on the right hand side of the screen – and then you’ll be able to download all 80+ pages and begin reading straight away.

I used to sell it actually – for $27 – but I reached a point where even though sales were good, that I just figured I would prefer you have it as a free resource.

Now I’m not going to pretend Addiction Uncovered, as a book on alcoholism and drug addiction covers everything there is to know, or that I know it all. This website is certainly more comprehensive and thorough in terms of information about alcoholism and drug addiction – even though I do provide a couple of handy tips in the book that I haven’t covered on this site (not yet anyway).

I am a firm believer however that when gaining knowledge you expand your horizons far and wide – because to become really informed and knowledgeable about a subject - you should get different perspectives on things – so that you can ultimately make up your own mind.

So ... onto the bad news. I’m not going to give you a list here of all the books on alcoholism and drug addiction I think you should read. Because you can easily enough go onto Amazon and find a whole bunch – and from there decide which appeal to you.

Instead – I’m going to tell you about a few books that have really had a profound impact on me and my growth in my continuous journey of self-discovery ...

I’ve always followed the approach of focusing my attention on the kind of person I would like to become - rather than the person I’m trying to move away from. That’s why I would rather read a spiritual book than one about alcoholism or addiction – so that my attention and energy is focused on the direction I’m moving towards (or at least trying to), rather than where I’m trying to move away from. Like I’ve said before though – there is no right or wrong way – it’s about finding a path or combination of methods – that works for you.

Anyway ... enough of me rambling on ... remember these are not books on alcoholism or addiction - but books that could have a profound impact on your life nonetheless:

1) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

I read this for the first time 10/11 years ago – and for the first time I learned that I actually had a say/some control over how my life turned out in terms of the ability to use your thoughts to create your reality. I certainly haven’t become a millionaire since – but I found it immensely exciting that I wasn’t just a puppet in this game of life, but could actually take control of my life. So even if you’re not interested in creating wealth – it’s simply a great way for reinforcing how to take charge of your life – and with it being written in 1937 I think it was, it teaches principles that The Secret based itself on around 70 years later.

2) Conversations with God series – Neale Donald Walsch

Now I know many Christians especially, don’t hold these series of books in particularly high regard, but they gave me an understanding of God and our role in the Universe, which I was beginning to realise anyway, but couldn’t explain and make sense of in the way that Neale does in his books. They provide an excellent spiritual foundation on principles that truly evolved ‘religions’ - or rather spiritual practices like Buddhism - have covered for thousands of years.

3) The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying - Sogyal Rinpoche

This is quite a ‘heavy’ one – but one of the all-time spiritual classics. Get your head around this one and you’ll truly have a deep understanding of consciousness and how we evolve spiritually. Something you can also use as a manual and refer to often to enhance your understanding and wisdom.

4) Manifesting Vibration – Jafree Oswald

Is probably the best e-book I’ve ever bought on the net. The stuff covered in manifesting vibration goes into the nuts and bolts of, and into great detail, – very specific steps and actions you can take for leaving a self-destructive life behind you and creating the kind of life you want. Very inspirational and exciting because it also provides you with a 90 day program you can follow to totally turn your life around. If you enjoy the kind of stuff The Secret covers – you’ll love this because it’s far more detailed and specific in terms of things to do and actions you can take to create the life you want. To find out more - click on the link above - I would suggest either the Super Manifesting Package or 90 Day Manifesting Program.

5) Various Paulo Coelho books

Paulo Coelho tells the most amazing, inspirational and beautiful stories in his books ranging from ‘The Alchemist’ to ‘Veronica Decides to Die’, ‘The Valykries’, and ‘The Pilgrimage.’ In fact I have yet to read a Paulo Coelho book I didn’t enjoy and captured a thought-provoking and potentially life changing theme beautifully. You cannot fail but to be inspired after reading one of his books.

6) Way of the Peaceful Warrior – Dan Millman

I was so inspired by reading this book. It basically tells the story of how Dan is taught by a kind of ‘Mr Miyagi character’ from the Karate Kid films - principles of personal growth and spiritual evolution - and how he evolves from an arrogant, ignorant young guy – to a self-aware, conscious and powerful man. While I was reading the book I decided to take some drastic action of my own in terms of doing one of the most amazing transformational things I have ever done – which you can find out more about by clicking on the link. By far the most way out thing I’ve done in terms of a life changing event.

7) A Return to Love – Marianne Williamson

She provides some excellent principles to follow based on teachings of ‘A Course in Miracles.’ She also tells her story and how she ended up on the path she did – and it’s always cool I find to read how other people overcame major obstacles of their own – to create amazing lives for themselves. Plus this book contains one of my all-time favourite paragraphs, which has now become a famous quote used by many all over, so you’ve no doubt heard it, but I think it’s that good you should hear it again:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"

There’s another book I want to tell you about – but its name has just slipped my mind. I’ll add it when I remember it. So as far as books on alcoholism and drug addiction go – I have at least provided you with details of one (mine - Addiction Uncovered). To buy any of the above though, just search for them on Amazon or wherever, except for Manifesting Vibration which you can get by clicking on the link.

But if you really keep an open mind and immerse yourself in these books – they can’t help but begin to change you and help you move out of destructive and negative thinking patterns that keep you stuck in various forms of addiction.

Remember – no book on alcoholism or book on drug addiction, or any book for that matter – is going to cure all your worries. It’s what you do with that information, how you try and live it, that will create long-term and lasting change. I also suggest you read what I have to say in the Resources Section where I talk to you about a couple of tools that really have the ability to help you transform your life on all levels (Yes – they really are that powerful).
