Alcoholism IS a Disease ... Most Definately!

by Christine Shaw
(Manchester, England)

My story ... alcohol is only a symptom of this disease and unless the alcoholic gets into recovery, the disease progresses and the individual is just a dry drunk.

The issue are that alcoholics, although each is different, all display certain characteristics: i.e. very self centred, full of their own importance, lack of tolerance, the world revolves around them, run from responsibility, and a few character defects.

I personally believe its genetic and am not of the view its environmental. The ignorance in the world to alcoholism and drug addiction ... whose the sickest ... joe public or people suffering from active addiction? (There go I by the grace of God)
